a review by guest critic Tom Keller
Here's my very first CD review, and I am going to say something extremely cheesy but true. Zero Hour's A Fragile Mind has a strong, heavy heart. This progressive metal CD is a must have for any metal head. Before meeting Robert ( a promoter of all prog.) I would never have listened to Zero Hour just because it falls under the term progressive. I have since learned the error of my ways. It is a shame that bands get labeled because many metal fans may never get to appreciate this wonderful work of art. The music is hard and emotional, you can feel it pick at your brain just like Jasun Tipton on his guitar. Sometimes the music gets chunky, but never gets annoyingly noisy. The flow from one song to the other is like chapters from a book, each stands alone, but the sum is greater than its parts. Even the artwork on the album is awesome, a cut above most progressive albums that I’ve seen. There is only one thing that disappointed me, it seems like they don't tour much, according to their website. Come on guys! Get out and tour! The public needs this kind of brilliant, elaborate live metal.
My rating of A Fragile Mind : 8.8/10
