Benoit David no longer a member of Yes
The rumor spread quickly in the last few days of January that singer Benoit David, who has replaced Jon Anderson as lead singer of the group Yes in 2008, had left the band. Benoit has released an official press release explaining the situation:
"Dear Yes fans,
As you all know, the final three shows of last year's European tour were cancelled due to my ill health. On my return to Canada, I was advised to cease touring, for the foreseeable future, in order to avoid further damage to my voice. Following this extremely disappointing diagnosis, I had no alternative but to inform my fellow band members that I was unable to confirm my availability for, at least, the forthcoming concerts in New Zealand, Australia and Japan.
Although there was no alternative, I did so with a heavy heart as I felt that I was letting everyone down especially those who have supported me since I had the privilege of becoming the band's vocalist in 2008. The band members were all very understanding and asked if I would mind being replaced for the April shows - I immediately agreed that this would be the best way forward and gave them my blessing. I was then pleased to learn that Jon Davison would be my replacement as he is an accomplished musician with a fine voice.
I subsequently learnt, from a band member's interview, that I had officially left Yes and that my departure was permanent. As this is the situation, everyone should know that I will be eternally grateful for the opportunity I was given and very proud to have contributed to more than 200 concerts and to the Fly From Here and In The Present Live From Lyon albums. I would also like to express my appreciation for the support I was given by each member of the band, the fantastic crew, the management and everyone else involved during my time as vocalist in the band. Finally, to the fans who have applauded my efforts and to those I have had the pleasure of meeting - many thanks, my best wishes and please continue with your support of one of the world's greatest bands - YES.
Although I need to take it easy for a while, I fully intend to continue with my music career. In late summer of 2011, I added vocals to Mystery's forthcoming album The World Is A Game - which is at the final stages of mixing and will be available in the near future. This is my third collaboration with Michel St-Pére, and Mystery, following 2007's Beneath the Veil of Winter's Face and 2010's One Among The Living. So I guess I will, hopefully, see you somewhere down the road.
Blessings."

10) I'm The Slime (Frank Zappa Cover)
plus Bonus CDROM section: "The Artwork"
Since finishing the latest Star One album in 2010), Arjen has been hard at work on his next release: a solo album, entitled Lost in the New Real. Releasing a solo album is something he wanted to do for a long time.
"I've been waiting to record a solo album with just me singing for about 10 years now. But I always seem to come across singers whom I would like to work with, so my last solo attempts have turned into an Ayreon, Star One or Guilt Machine release instead! But now the time is right and I feel very inspired!"
Arjen is handling the lead vocal duties as well as playing all the guitars, keyboards, and bass. There is one guest vocalist helping out with backing vocals, and some guest instrumentalists as well. The album also features screen acting legend Rutger Hauer in the role of the album's narrator.
What should fans expect with regard to the album's sound and style? As Arjen puts it: "This is turning out to be quite an eclectic album, with widely varied styles like prog, folk, psychedelica, atmospheric, and a heavy bit here and there. So with all this variation, you could say that this is an album for open-minded listeners! As a reaction to the dark feel of my last album, this album has a more positive, upbeat feel overall. Conceptually it could be compared to a song-oriented Ayreon album (without all the guest singers, of course), as all the songs are linked to a central theme. At this stage it's still too early to reveal any details about the concept, but I can say that it's a highly personal album, one from the heart. I haven't enjoyed myself like this in years!"

Arena - The Seventh Degree of Separation:
At last the new Arena album is finished and will be released on the 28th November 2011. The Seventh Degree of Separation is also their seventh album, a concept album which explores the last hour of life and the first hour beyond. It’s truly dark in the way that only Arena can do! The Seventh Degree Of Separation special edition package is a 56 minute long, 13 track CD in a 3 leafed digibook with a 28 page pullout booklet packed with original artwork + a bonus 50 minute DVD “The making of The Seventh Degree Of Separation”, where each member of the band gives you some insight into the process they go through to make the music.
“I must say the album is sounding great; very powerful and atmospheric. The music to me is another part of the Arena evolution, although there is still that intrinsic ‘Arena-sound’ pervading the album.” says keyboardist Clive Nolan. You can hear a sample of the album at www.arenaband.com. This special edition package is now available for pre-order exclusively at www.verglas.com and you will receive your special edition package before the official release date, and will be available at the usual specialist retailers and on-line providers like Syn-Phonic.

Vos Voisins - Holocauste à Montréal:
The long-awaited release on CD of this seminal québécois progressive rock album is finally here. Featuring Jacques Perron, Pierre Ringuet, Serge Vallières and André Parenteau, this unique album from the band was released in 1971 with the "Allo Police" album cover which caused some controversy and Polydor decided to pull it and replace it with a more subdued album cover. The music is an eclectic mix of hard rock and ballads full of humoristic lyrics, and progressive instrumentals, featuring guest Louise Forestier on vocals. One of the songs, The Main Monster, became a local radio hit. Both album covers are reproduced in the booklet, as well as previously unseen photos and biographic notes. And as a bonus treat, both sides of their 1970 single are included. Available through ProgQuébec's online store, as well as all good local record stores including Archambault and Freeson!
